I lived in that area for about 12 years (as an adult). I guess you're contemplating going to Plymouth State University?

It's not Boston; much more laid back. If you're used to cruising down Mass ave and having tons of shopping at your fingertips and 50 different places to order out from, Plymouth won't be it.

And yet, it's nice in its own way. It's small, but often small is nice. You can head up to Lincoln (about 20 mins north) and go skiing or snowboarding. You can go to Holderness (10 mins) and spend time on the lake. Rent a boat and waterski. Rent canoes or kayaks and go on the water. It's just different.

It's about 2 hours from Boston - just go up Rt 93, and get off at exit 25. Check it out.

There is shopping and stuff around, it just usually requires a short trip. You'd probably enjoy it better if you had a car to get you around.

It's a small college town, located at the gateway to the NH mountains; the college used to be just a teachers' college. Draw your own conclusions. Cold and snowy in the winter, quite lovely in autumn foliage. If you don't have a car at least there is bus service to Boston for interrupting the boredom, if one does not find a (or more) significant other(s) or someone just to hook up with.
