I have often heard how talented of a musician you have to be to play bluegrass or classical. I am sure it would depend on the piece of music but is that often true? Are any people in rock bands great musicians? Are any rock songs very tecnical? I would like some answers from musicians who have some musical knowledge.

Jazz. The compositions are often rhythmically and harmonically complex, and, even with simple base structures like the standard 12-bar blues, extensive improvisiation is a must.

I am a musician and i play various instruments in a concert ensemble...the hardest music i have to play is classical marches especially on a trumper....rock music is pretty easy, so is hip hop. The way i feel you are a great musician you can play any concert piece with no problem..i hope that helps...

i play a piano if that helps you but i think the hardest music to play is classical but i think rock is the easiest music to play! all those new 'punk-rock' bands probably don't even know the notes! my brother wanted to start electric guitar and the partitions had little drawings with the hand movements on them instead of notes - is that serious stuff?

listen to Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, and Dream Theater if you want technical. Also try Metallica, Slayer, and Cannibal Corpse

Id have to say normal rock since AC/DC > Nickelback, although I don't see how Nickelback is hard rock when AC/DC is normal rock. Would have voted for metal, but I'm not really a metalcore fan, and Megadeth alone doesn't really convince me.

I would have to say Jazz. Just listening to it should tell you that it's hard to play. :-)
