~Get him up early, like a half hour each day until he's back on schedule.
If you have a rocking chair, try rocking him with the lights dimmed, get him to wind down BEFORE bedtime.
You should talk to his father about how difficult it is to get him back on track. Children need and want schedules. Tell him what time he needs to be in bed.
Good luck.~

It's going to be hard, and you and your mom are going to be frazzled, but this might be the only way to make it work.

About 1 hour before you want him to go to bed, start any little rituals or before bed chores. Get his teeth brushed, his bath done, all that good stuff. Do it in the same order every night. That will help set his mind into a routine. When it is bed time, take him to his room, tuck him in, give him a kiss and turn off the light. Shut the door. This is the hardest part. WALK AWAY.

If he comes out of the room, just lead him back to the bed, give him a kiss or say good night and WALK AWAY again. He needs to understand that you mean business without you yelling or fighting with him. This is going to happen over and over and might not be totally successful the first night, but eventually he will understand that when he follows routine he will begin to get tired naturally and he will also know he can't push your buttons and make you let him stay up.

Don't allow yourself to fight with him, just keep putting him right back in bed. You are the boss, and the little guy needs his sleep....Good luck!

Hard one indeed. I had the same problem. He was not sleepy but i used to turn off the lights and the tv and going to bed with him. Sometimes it takes 1 hour until he fall asleep but is the only solution i've found this far.

Get him up early and make sure he doesn't take a nap during the day. Also give him a warm bath and some milk to drink before bed, that will help him sleep.
