Currently working at a job I was once very excited about and thought it might be the first step towards my future, but there is no work for me in this position and absolutley no sign of a promotion or more responsibility on the way. Planning on quitting soon. Am I crazy to complain about getting payed to do nothing or is it crazy to stay at a job where you accomplish nothing?

Being bored can actually be exhausting and very demoralising.

My mom had a job once where she got so tired of trying to occupy herself and look busy that she used to go into the ladies, put the seat down and sit there for a while. She found it really depressing.

It might suit some but, if being so under-utilised is not for you, then leave. But I'd find something else to go to first.

All the best.

I would be SO bored.

Have you asked for more resposibility, or do you just not see any around you?

If the company can not use resources better, it won't last and you will need to find a new job anyways, might as well beat the rush. Leaving for those purposes would be beneficial for your job search. You can be picky on what you do next and you can legitimately say in interviews you laeft because of nothing to do,

Are you a reader? Read books, learn a language, teach yourself new things. Take online classes. There are things you can do to fill the time. Don't waste time like that. Learn to knit or ask coworkes if they need any help with their jobs. You have a lot of downtime and you ought to utilize it in a productive, satisfying way. If you do that then the job wouldn't seem so boring. This is a great opportunity, please don't waste it.

I would enjoy the money, but I would be bored most of the time. My job situation is very similiar, and I have been searching for new jobs with a higher salary during my "down time".

i would say that it's a good thing that you get paid to do nothing but if it's not what you wanted then quit because you don't actually learn anything. I would say that get a job that pays more and will get you promotions to get you higher and so on.

the prospect of working 15 hrs and making a fll salary sounds nice, but i'm sure it can get boring. if i were you, i'd stick with it though. use your free time to enroll in activities or pursue your interests. join a gym or take culinary lessons or something. put all that money you're earning to good use!
