Get a portfolio together and make some appointments at the booking agencies and hopefully you'll get a contract! Good Luck honey x

Get yourself some good photos ( you will need a portfolio) then send them to some agencies. It depends on the type of modelling you want to do whether you are too old, the catwalk models are young but catalogues need different ages.
There are a lot of models out there with low self confidence, actually, just looking gorgeous isn't enough to be confident.

wow, my friend is the EXACT same way. When we were younger she was really awkward. Now she's gorgeous! She had acne and frizzy hair and was tall and skinny when we were younger. Now her face is clear she has gorgeous long hair that she puts products in and takes care of. Shes very fit thanks to sports and is not the tallest person anymore because everyone else got taller.. She is very pretty but still suffers from low self-esteem and low confidence because not everyone was nice to her back in the day. They called her pimple face and teased her about being tall. Now everyone thinks shes HOTT. You have to realize we all go through our ugly faze and thank god you just got better as time went on. All those people who teased you for being unattractive have grown up and wised up and now seen that you blossomed. Its natural mto still have some low self esteem. But to me low self esteem means how you look at yourself OVERALL. And confidence means you don't think you have what it takes or you don't think you can do what it takes. Your not alone. Just be happy your atractive now and all those people are kicking themselves. goodluck.

You can start modeling at various ages, so you are not too old. First however, you would need to figure out your market. I mean are you best suited for Runway, Print, Editorial, High Fashion, Swimwear, Sportswear, Bridal, Trade Show and Promotional, etc.??

I have modeled professionally most of my life. I have also been a Fashion Show Coordinator and a Talent/Modeling Instructor. My students have varied in age, look, and ability, but the first thing I tell them is to consider thier market as I just told you.

It is also very important to look at where you live. The biggest hubs for modeling are NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta. If you do not live near those Cities, you are at a dis-advantage as all of you large Agencies and production companies are in those areas. You will need to be near them to go to casting calls and shoots. Many of the best Photographers also live in those areas as they know that is where the best work is.

If you do live near those cities or are willing to move near them, you will have to start with at least a good headshot. Color is best if you are going into modeling, black/white is best for acting. You will need to spend some money to get a great shot, but it will be worth it. Most agencies and casting directors will only ever see your picture and never you in person. So, you need to invest in the best picture you can get. Later, you can get a full body shot and fill your portfolio. If you are really serious and have potential, you will also need to creat a composite card. That will showcase several of your best photos on one card. A flipcard is all you need right now as the whole process canget really pricey.

Seriously consider your desires and look at yourself. There are many very pretty girls out there, but they are not "Model Material", meaning they don'tphotograph well or have runway potential.

Lastly, there are many people out there more than willing to make promises to you and take your money offering you bid hopes and dreams. Just know that a reputable modeling agency does not ask for money from you. If they feel you have potential, they will see the money that they will make from adding you into thier agency, by the amount of the work you will bring to them. Most Agencies take 15-20% of what you make.

Anyway, good luck. There are some great books out there about the industry that you may want to look at. It's a big decision. Being a Model is not as glamorous as some may think. It is a tough business with lots of rejection, but also lots of rewards if you are determined to be succesful.

em, sorry i think you might be too old at this stage to get into it. If you have low self-esteem then you should deffo not be a model, its a bitchy world. If you are hell bent on it, contact model one or some of the other big agencies and if they say no, dont bother with the smaller agencies coz they will only be milking you for money. Make sure any agency that does try to take you on are registered with a national modelling association. that way you can be sure that they have a ceratin level of morals and ethical practice.

where do you live coz theres alot of agencies around the world?

get some pics done go to an agency and see what they say.

im in SPRY models milan at the moment check out their website www.sprymodels.it.

watever you do dont be dissapointed if you dont gt work imideatly the season is slow at the moment. most agencies are closing 20dec and open only on the 7th or 8th of jan.

its a tuff industry,so put all you got into it and go for it.

if your the type that cant be away from family and friends for too long then just stick to modeling in your home town and if you want to see the world go for it its amazing.

i never thought of ever becoming a model either it was one of my friends who got me started and now im truly grateful coz im having the time of my life. my boyfriend takes it hard though coz everytime he doesnt see me for 2, 3, 4 months at a time.

i live in south africa, and ive been modelling for nearly two years and ive was in taipei in april came back after two months then took time off had exams to write and now im in milan till 27 Feb.

dont let people get you down.if thats what you want to do then do it.

if you could post a question of where about you are i could recomend you an agency if you like.i always like to help people out coz its not always easy getting into modelling.

have fun and good luck.

Look online and try to find magazines that have ad with models in them. Go to the web sites those ads should have and see if they are having casting calls. I myself don't know any modeling agencies, but if you type that in a search it should come up with some very quickly, or you can try Monster.com. That should work. Sorry if this doesn't help as much as you'd like, but everything starts with small steps at first.

Wow! I am 27 as well, and I already have 2 kids and have been married for 7.5 years! It just seems funny to me that someone my own age, wants to jump into something that is made for people much younger than we are. Anyway, I wish you the best of luck, as for the self esteem, just know that if you are a good person inside, that will emit from you and you will be impossible to resist. It sounds like this is already a fact, and that ou have friends that will support you. Just believe in yourself, sound like everyone else already does, Good luck and Merry Christmas!

Modeling is probably a bad idea if you have low self confidence. Imagine someone scrutinising your body and pointing out all the bits you hate yourself. If you think you can listen to them say "you have a big nose, flabby bottom, scary feet" (or whatever you're insecure about) and not care then go for it.

u need to build ur confidence up cos not every agency you visit is going to be complimentary. i tried for modelling when i was abt 17 and, altho i was a size 8 i was told to slim down. sometimes they reject and give no feedback so confidence is key.

go to a reptutable agency try visiting the association of model agents to find a decent agency. never pay to get test shots and dont pay to be put on an agencies books.

good luck
