Ebo - I am not looking for a file in particular - I know that some files are in multiple locations but I want something that will scan the entire share and report back to me what is replicated and where

Get a File Integrity Checker. Not only will it search for multiple files it will also search for corrupt and missing files.

Quite tricky. Assuming your server is running an enterprise grade server operating system such as Linux or Solaris then you can use the "find" and "diff" commands.

Use the "find" command to locate files of the same size, and the diff command to compare them. This way, even if the files have different filenames, you will know if they contain the same data.

If you do find multiple versions of the same file, then consider using symbolic links. This way you only have 1 version of the file, but multiple access points.

I'd do a system search to see how many times it pops up plus it will give you location
