I would suggest giving her 1/2 of her bottle first (to elimintate that pang of hunger) and then the cereal, then the rest of her bottle.
I have 4 kids who started solids at various ages...I always followed the dr.'s recommendation on what order to give babies solids
--rice cereal
--barley cereal
--oatmeal cereal
--orange/yellow veggies
--green veggies
--fruits (LAST so they will not develop a taste for sweet and reject the more bitter tasting veggies)
I would NOT recommend putting fruit or fruit juice with the cereal yet for the reason above. Try the barley or oatmeal and see what happens.
Good luck to you!

My son was the same, at 4 months the peditrician told us to introduce rice cereal. He hated it!!! And he was so hungry too! I bought oat cereal and tried that a couple days later. No sucess for me. So I called the doc again. She said keep trying and after about 4 weeks of trying I could give him stage one foods. You can only introduce one new food every four days to make sure there is no reaction. After he had pears, bananas, carrots, etc.. he was one happy baby! In the mean time, I just nursed him all the time and if I was at work my parents gave him more milk more often and still tried cereal. Good Luck!

When I first gave my kids baby cereal, I added just a tiny bit to some breastmilk so it would taste pretty much like the food they were used to... just with a different texture. And then spoon fed a few soupy mouthfulls to them. (you can use formula if that is what you feed your daughter, but be sure you are using a spoon and not bottle feeding her the cereal... she'll never learn to eat solids that way)
Babies this age still have the "tongue thrust" reflex so they will seem to spit out everything that you put in, but they do get the hang of it and learn to keep a little more in their moth each time you try feeding them. Feeding at this age is more for practice than for nutrition.
Once they got the hang of "sipping" from the spoon and having to swallow something more solid than milk, I then gradually increased the amount of cereal in the milk.
It didn't take long before the consistancy was pretty thick and they were gobbling it up.
Then I started blending in different baby foods for them to try.... again, just a little bit mixed in to what they were used to. Once they had experienced that flavor a little with the cereal, I could feed it straight from the jar with no complaints.
They took to eating solids pretty quickly this way as they were never shocked by any sudden extreme flavor changes.

Mix the cereal very runny but it on a spoon and let her lick it they will stick out tongue like they are not liking it put they have a natural gag reflux, do not put it in a bottle she will get too full and end up with tummy ache, she is probally going through a growth spurt right now and just needs more formula, do not start the baby food yet too many allergies and her little tummy is not ready for that yet, I have 4 children and my first is still paying for me trying too feed her too early she has lots of tummy issues still at 13, just stick with the formula and rice cereal on a spoon, and just a not baby's taste buds are very undeveloped right no so taste is really not an issue.
Hope this helps feel free to email me if you need further assistance.

There are different types of cereals on the market, you could try one of these. Also, if you are using water, try milk. Another thing, are you sure she hates it? She is going to make faces and maybe even spit it out a lot at first anyway. Sometimes babies have trouble swallowing until they get really used to it. Main thing is to remember this is all new to her and can be very scary, plus, she feeds off of your emotions, if you are nervous she will be too. Just relax and think of the bonding that you are doing and you will eventually look back on this an laugh.

Alright, im not a mommy, but i do have 2 little brothers and 1 little sister, all under the age of 8. When my youngest brother doesnt like what we feed him, sometimes we will put peaches and oatmeal in the mixer and the baby loves that. Once in awhile we will put soup in the mixer and grind it up so that he can eat it. Try different kinds of rice cereal too. Sam didnt like the plain but he LOVES oatmeal and bananas flavored.

Any single grain cereal is ok. If she didn't liek the rice, try the oatmeal. Also, you could try the rice cereal with a couple of baby spoons of baby food fruit in it for flavor. That's what we did for my son.

I always mixed bananas with it...All four of my children were eating baby cereal in the jars at 4 months and none of them are obese or anything. I dont understand how doctors can think that just formula can fill their little bellies. The first time i finally added bananas to my first childs bottle with a teaspoon of rice cereal. She slept the WHOLE night because her tummy was full. Yes, the cereal is gross, i tried EVERYTHING my first born ate just to see why she was making the funny, gross looking faces and now i know why!!! LOL ..Good luck to your and your new little one. They are such bundles of joy.(until they reach the teenage years...lol).

I don't think she hates the rice cereal, she just doesn't know how to eat.
We have a seven month old and we still struggle with rice cereal, as well as any baby food. She just doesn't know what to do with the food in her mouth.
Keep at it, she'll figure it out eventually. Keep supplementing her with the bottle so she doesn't starve, but keep pushing the cereal on a spoon.
Also, don't listen to the people above that recomended baby food. Unless your pediatrician tells you to go ahead - your daughter isn't ready for that type of protein yet.

Are you mixing the cereal with her formula? I know my son hated it when it was just mixed with water. And you could try "hiding" the cereal between some applesauce or something a little sweet and the more she eats the less sweet stuff you give the baby
