If you are getting stuck in the sidewalk cracks, then the caps on your heels may be too skinny. The cap is the little black thing at the bae of the heel. Next time you purchase heels look for a wider capped shoe. However, if you can't resist a certain style, then take your shoes to a shoe cobbler. He/she can put a larger cap on your heel. It will help with the cracks, it's cheap AND it makes the shoe more stable.
My only other suggestion is to carry flats for walking in the street.

I suggest wearing wider/thicker/stacked heels; that way they're not too narrow that they might get stuck in cracks the way slim stiletto heels do.
Another suggestion is to wear wedges/wedge heels. They're still high and sexy like the standard heels, but they have a flat base so they won't get caught in cracks and there's less pressure on your feet.
Hope this helps! :-)

Wear shoes with a chunkier heal. Thin stiletto heals are a nightmare when walking! I love wearing heals for work but after several embarrassing incidents of getting my heals caught in between cracks in the pavement and tripping up then having to walk back bare foot to retrieve your shoe out of the ground, I settled for a good sturdy pair of heals instead!

Not much you can do , but I do have a suggestion for you. If you notice any construction going on near you or anywhere that might effect you send a letter to the architect. I know it sounds crazy but it worked for a friend of mine when she saw planning permission on the paper for a bridge. They made the slots narrower so heels couldn't get caught. Worth a try !!

Thicker heels - or just NOT very thin stilletoes! I've had the same problem before, that's the only way you can avoid it. Mind you, if you see a grate or broken slabs etc make sure you avoid it!

Don't step in cracks.... They will break your mother's back....
Or wear shoes with thicker heels, or the ones with the really big, square heels, very comfy shoes, you can height and don't hurt your feet...

Instead of stillettos, try a bigger, wider, or thicker heel that wont get stuck. Or try a wedge shoe, which gives you the height with none of that wobbley-ness of a stilletto.
