I am 17 weeks pregnant. Just to tell you a little about myself I am 22. When I got pregnant I weighed 127 lbs. and I am 5'1" tall. I've gained about 8 pounds so far. I'm not really showing just looking chunky through the middle. In the morning when I wake up I can put my hand on my belly and my "bump" is a lot more noticable than normal. It is usualy my whole lower stomach area. This morning it was all on the lower right side. I got up and urinated and came back to bed and then I couldn't feel it anymore. I have a routine doctors appointment Tuesday so I am going to ask him then but I am freaking out and curious to know if anyway has experienced this same thing. I appreciate any answers to what I could be feeling or why? Bladder or baby? Something else?

Congrats!!!! When I was pg the first time (boy) the baby was everywhere. My bump moved constantly. When I was further along, I had went to the store and while I was shopping a little boy (4 or 5) kept starring at my belly. Finally he got brave and asked his mom why my belly kept jumping. I looked down to notice my swollen belly bouncing away (he had hiccups alot). I got a laugh and so did his mom. But on my second (girl) no one knew I was pg until after the six month mark, not even a bump. Just enjoy the pregnancy, having fun with it, and good luck on the birth. Every baby and every pregnancy is different so let the bump move around, moving is a good thing.
BTW- if everyone reads the question right the girl is 22 years old and 17 weeks pg. I was 20 when I had my first and 23 when I had my second. Not on welfare, and my kids have great lives.

No need to worry, your bump will constantly change shape throughout your pregnancy. It may move up or down or to one side. As your bladder or stomach fill, your little may have to adjust to one area until its emptied.
I guess it was about 17 weeks that I started telling a difference when I ate and if my bladder was full.
Yesterday had an ultrasound, and my bladder was so full my girl was pushed up into my ribs and all you could see was the top of her head two little fists and two little feet as she was bent in half and pointed directly out and in breech position. Doc. laughed and said I'd have to empty my bladder in order to see the baby, once I did...she instantly moved into a transversed position and he was able to see all her organs. But your belly will now start taking on some unusual shapes.

Most likely if it was in the center then was on the side, it is proably the baby. The baby is probably just moved. When I was pregnant with my son, the shape of my belly changed depending on his postion and the position I was laying in. As the baby gets bigger, you will find the shape of your stomach quite comical at times.

Apparently Carol M can't read. She decided to shoot off at the mouth before she saw that you are 17 WEEKS PREGNANT, not 17 years old. Hahahaha. illiteracy at its finest.
I love stupid people.
Anyway, I would say it is the baby leaning against the bladder. :-)

During my entire pregnancy, my baby favored my left side, and I always looked lopsided. Your "bump" will vary depending on where the baby is situated in your uterus. Wait until he/she starts moving noticably - one day you might have a bump on the left, the next, one on the right, etc.
If you're having any pain or discomfort though, you should consult your doctor.

It could have been the baby using your bladder as a pillow!! :) After you peed and took the pillow away the baby's water mattress deflated and he/she became less noticeable.

If you're not in any pain then I would say that it was your baby sleeping there and once you got up and moved around he or she moved too.
