verizon phones don't have sim cards and phones aren't "locked" as they are in other cell phone companies. so yes, you can buy a verizon branded phone from ebay and it'll work. if it's for your son and he tends to lose them, i'd go for the 10-20 dollar cheapies. buy a few to keep on hand.

Yes, you can buy one on Ebay, but.... it MUST be a Verizon branded phone. Verizon works on CDMA technology so the 1st answer you were given is wrong. Verizon will NOT activate any other carriers phone so again, you can buy a phone independent from Verizon but it must be a Verizon branded phone. Home this helps

Yes, You can purchase it from a place like Ebay. I bought alot of phones from there for pretty cheap. And it always works!

Yup...but it has to be "unlocked"...you cell provider will replace your sim card for free, but the phone has to be bought...so get a cheap phone for the kiddo, from the provider, or buy a good unlocked phone on line...good luck
