would it affect some of my programs? i don't know if any of my programs use ms sql 2005. i use VB 2005 and visual web developer 2005. my framework is 2.0. however i don't have sql management tools 2005. that is why i have to remove sql server 2005 from my pc and replace it with sql server 2000 and sql 2000 enterprise edition because that is what i have. ms sql server 2005 i believe is preinstalled in my notebook.

is it SAFE to UNINSTALL ms sql server 2005 and replace it with 2000?

im worried that it might cause malfunction to my other programs and softwares.. PLS HELP.

You can uninstall SQL 2005 and install SQL 2000 with no problem. However all data that you have in the database will be lost as SQL 2000 can not read the SQL 2005 data files or backups.

You should download the free SQL 2005 tools that Microsoft has provided. You can download the Tools here http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65110.

If you have Data in your database server then you may LOSE it all
If this is OK with you, then you can install Sql Server 2000 safely

try to get the management tools first, you can install an earlier version but will have some compatibility issue with existing files and programs as they will be linked to the new version. If you install the earlier version you may need to reprogram or reinstall other programs and files as well. Its going to be safer and easier to get the latest updates rather than reverting.
