Help! I was driving my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited and the heat suddenly SHUT OFF! I was going about 35 MPH. The car has 87,000 miles on it. The air won't work at all. No AC, no heat, not on low, not on high. If you stick your hand directly on top of the vent you can feel a SOFT breeze of warm air. Jeep Dealer wanted to charge $70 to run a diagnostic check on the car, but if it's just a fuse I'd rather do it myself. Has anyone else ever had this problem? It's 15 degrees out and snowing... great time to not have heat!

Brought it to the dealer today. They just called and said the whole fan motor is blown. Said the fuse was out too, which they said usually blows before the fan motor.

It's going to be about $400 to fix, and I need a new starter as well... about $1000 total when it's all said and done with labor and taxes, etc. Merry Christmas to me... just kidding!

Not sure if that helps or not. I just bought a new car, got tired of everything breaking on my Jeep. In it's defense it does have 87,000 miles on it, though.

You have a main distribution fuse box under the hood to the left as you look at the engine. Pop the cover off and check the fuses. Under the cover of the box there are details of what fuse does what. There is also a distribution panel next to the clutch pedal under the dash, check those fuses as well. If all is well there you probably have a blown or shorted blower fan which is also located on the left side and mounted on the bulkhead between engine and dashboard. Disconnect the connection to it and run two wires direct to the battery and see what happens?

It could be a fuse or a controll door stuck in the closed position

my 2001 limited had the exact same problem, i played around with the wiring below the passenger side, under the dash and got it to blow but it only blows cold air now. my dad wants to replace the fan relay, but i think its more to it also....let me know if you find out any information, i would like to exchange emails with someone who knows anything about this if possible. thanks
