Yes..it is the great strength and also weakness of us. Due to this diversity only we were able to sustain during 2,000 years of foreign regimes. It may be noted that most of the African and South American countries lost their culture, language and heritage with few hundred years of foreign regimes. We strongly beleive that truth is one, but one chose his own way to see it. It accepts pluralism and also respect various opinions. This is the only way out to the present-world to live in harmony. Both christianity and Islam refuge to accept the holiness of other faith.

I think a better question might be: why are only Hindus expected to compromise their religious nationalism and patriotism in the interests of unity while no such demands are being made on India's other minorities?
How can one possibly talk of unity when we a have a minority of 100 million that are covertly plotting against India's national self-interests.

"Unity in Diversity" has been applied to America. India is a nation with deep, deep divisions, and very little unity.

Okay I'm not in India and I'm just starting to learn things about India but I don't think that you have the fighting of the different religions that they have in other parts of the country. Now I could be wrong as I'm just starting to learn about your Country.
