Since 1977, the NFL has moved to or added 7 new cities into the fold:
Arizona (Phoenix) Cardinals
Carolina (Charlotte) Panthers
Indianapolis Colts
Jacksonville Jaguars
Seattle Seahawks
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tennessee (Nashville) Titans

I do realize that on and off field success are not mutually exclusive, but...on field success aside, which franchise has been the most successful?

Think I know the flip side will be easier, but can we agree on who the worst is?

Before anyone asks, Baltimore, Cleveland, Houston, Oakland and St. Louis all had teams prior to '77...just not (Raiders & Browns excluded) the one that resides there now, so they aren't included.

Tampa Bay since they are the only one of those teams to win a Super Bowl.

Edit: I guess when you say off field sucess you mean financial sucess all teams in the NFL share the pie, but if you own your stadium that is where you make the big bucks. Here is an article dated 2003 , but it gives you an idea of the values of the different franchises.

So you count teams that MOVE but not the NEW Franchises. You could the Indy Colts, who MOVED from Baltimore but say Oakland doesn't count, because they were the Raiders before and moved back and forth. Sorry I don't agree with the full logic to this question. Also I think Baltimore went without a team long enough they should count. Oh and if you don't count the Colts you can't count the Tennessee Oilers aka Titans. Nor do you count the Cardinals, who moved from St Louis. That was the OWNER moving them not the NFL, just as the Raiders moved because their OWNER moved them.

Now if you mean best outside on-field I would say likely either Seattle. As good as Jacksonville may have been they had a little to tap into the Miami fan base. Might not have started them with alot BUT it gave tehm a start and a good record added to that. The Colts weren't really cared about until they got Manning so I can't really say they have done good. Seattle is proably considered to have the best fan base of the listed teams so I think they have to be picked out of this.

Tennessee doesn't count-it's the Houston Oilers, who moved to Nashville, became the Nashville Oilers, then changed the name to Tennessee Titans.

Indianapolis doesn't count-moved to Indy from Baltimore.

Arizona doesn't count-they were the St. Louis Cardinals forever, but moved to Phoenix, then became the Arizona Cardinals.

Most success would have to be Carolina, as they have made it to the Superbowl and lost, and then made it back to the NFC championship game and lost last season. Tampa Bay has a Superbowl win, but with that they have like 20 very very bad seasons, so in the scope of things, Carolina is a much younger team with a lot of success. I would put Seattle and Jacksonville next on the list, as Seattle has made it to the Superbowl and lost, and Jacksonville has played in the post season quite a bit in a short amount of time.

The Bucs are the only one to win a Super Bowl, so I would say them. The Colts arent technically an expansion franchise. They moved from Baltimore. Which leads us to one your forgot - the Baltimore Ravens, who have also won a Super Bowl.

the colts were in baltimore so they arent really an expansion team....but i think the seahawks have because they had success through some of their years and they have the most recent success.
