My car will start- but it wont move.

It is a Manual Mustang- it starts just fine. But when I go to put it in the gear the RPMs will go up but then they will fall. You can tell the car wants to move- the back end will go up but it just won't move.

It was 10 degrees last night- I had a problem the other day with it doing this but after it warmed up a little it worked just fine.

yea rear brakes are freezing up....emergency break could be on but i am sure you checked that, so spray de-ice into tire well. This is available at your local hardware and automotive. This is no problem, just let it warm up.....or park somewhere else at night

the reason it lifts up is because the driveshaft is turning a little meaning the trans is fine, it lifts the left rear side of the car's suspension as it puts torque on the rear end. It falls in RPMs because as the acceleration is let off the torque from the rear end lif, returns to the transmission and motor.

Really need more details to help, but it sounds like your brakes are locked (probably due to freezing if it was out in the cold). You can tell it wants to go, but it won't? How hard are you pushing the gas - rather how many RPM's are you getting it up to.

Brakes are stuck. This happens sometime when a car sits too long without being driven. Jack it up and see if the wheels will turn by hand.

tranny fluid could be darkish redish brown no longer gray! seems such as you grinded up some element or burned the cluches or bands interior the tranny. youll have the skill to tell as quickly as you're taking the pan down.

put it in gear... kidding....

you might want to have some one check your transmission and make sure all the gears are in order... might also be a problem with the rear axle
