You know, in the movies, they always play a sad song on the violin to mock something sad. I play the guitar and know my theory well enough, gimmie that generic "violin" sad progression. Timing isn't essential I'm sure I'll put it together sad enough.

that's pretty generic - generic as hell, actually

(i had to write the progression going down instead of left to right because it was hard to read the other way)

I don't have the guitar handy but I'll guess. It's very classical sounding. Okay here goes...Gm, Cm, Fmaj, Bbmaj, Eb, G#maj, Gsus2, Gmaj. I hope this was what you were looking for. Transpose it to whatever key you prefer. This is a very common classical chord progression. Listen to Bach, (I forget which violin concerto), and the song "Burn" by Deep Purple.

Pretty much anything played in a minor key will tend to sound "sad".
