Have you ever been criticized for doing something nice for someone? and how did you feel about it?

the other night I busted my *** to cover for someone else's job, didn't even get paid for it and on top of it they criticize me for not doing a good enough job, I thought it was fine but not perfect. should I just feel good about it, secure in the knowledge that I've done someone a favor, or get sensitive and angry?

Yes, you should feel good. And if you did the best you could do, then that's all that can be expected of you. It never pays to get angry and carry a grudge. You did do someone a favor and when we do favors (or acts of kindness) we should be doing them with no return expectations, no return praise, no return favors. It would be nice if all persons were courteous enough to recognize a kindness and say thank you, however, if it doesn't come don't let it discourage you in the future.
It's also a good life lesson when it comes to that particular person, but don't discount all persons because of the actions of one. And if you are so inclined, I leave you a link to a site that will show you many people who opt to do kindnesses with no thanks.

You're a human and it's a natural response to get sensitive and angry at first, but you will get over it. As you said, you should feel good about it and don't let this situation deter you from helping out someone else in the future.

I know that getting burned too many times makes you wonder, though.

Tell the person the an unappreciative lazy A s s! who didn't do their own job, then now that you've said what you needed, let it roll off and forget about it- BUT remember not to do anything for that person again.

Preached the whole counsel of God to people, some got offended. Hurts with the ones I dearly love. But Jesus said it'll be that way.
