Car is 1995 Trans Am. Bought it used and it is possible that it has been stolen or someone tried to steal it before.

This is an automatic transmission and it only happens when trying to get it out park.

it depends on if it is a manual transmsion or an automatic. If it is a manual it is the clutch. If it is the auto then it could be the torque converter or the clutch

yes use the parking brake on inclined parking. the wieght of the car sits on the locking pin that is about the size of a pencil. don't leave 4000 lbs leaning on it. set brake b4 u go to park, and release it after u go to reverse or drive. it will make alll the difference.
