A Calgary homeless man has been fined $115 by police for spitting in a garbage can. They called it "improper disposal of waste", in a campaign that appears geared at bullying the homeless into oblivion. Calgary police have gone on a spree of ticketing the homeless for everything from loitering to littering.
For those of you who don't know, Calgary has been getting filthy rich off oil revenues for the past few years and has passed Toronto has the wealthiest city in Canada. Obviously police are acting this way out of political pressure brought about by the population.
So why is it the rich are so completely oblivious to the problems of the poor and can be so downright cruel?

Just for the record, I consider myself neither rich nor poor, but I think this is appaling.

Ok. Point well taken. Not all rich people are like this. But it seems to be the tendencies that it's richer municipalities who tend to crack down on the poor.

Look, america is at time based on individualism....the 'i care for me, myself, and i, and no one else because they didn't go through what i went through' ordeal. So all those rich people aren't gonna give a fat f*ck about homeless or anyone else, because they worked their butts off to get where they are, they did it all by themselves with people trying to break them down...and they made it....it's not their fault the homeless guy can't get his butt off his feet and do something with his life and struggle like the rich guy did....This i can safely assume is the mentality of many a rich person.
BUT.....mind you these rich people didn't get to where they were if it weren't for what america's system offered.....they needed this democracy, this economy, this land of opportunity to even FATHOM being rich...so don't you think you OWE the damn country that helped you get into that position at least the dignity and gratitude to help the others with an opportunity as well? Not everyone can be as powerful and self-willed as the rich...some need a damn helping hand.....honestly if you think this country didn't do **** for you...i'd like to see them move the **** out and never come back....OH BUT NO...BECAUSE THEIR WEALTH AND BUSINESS IS HERE......go figure people can't appreciate sh*t.
I know if i was rich, i'd do my part and contribute to those who need a second chance...BUT....it is quite difficult to do when you got some of those a*sholes that are homeless that screw it up for all the other homeless people when they take these opportuniites and blow it on alchohol, strip clubs, or just use it for a good weekend's luxury and go back to bein a bum......as long as you have idiots that do that.....people will refuse to care for homeless, and you'll end up having these unfortunate situations every time......life's a b*tch when you got sinners and selfish bastids in it eh?

Actually, it is the rich that provide jobs, capital investment that give the rest of us worker ants the resources we needs, as well as donate the majority of money to charity.
Most rich people are good, giving people. Look at Gates and Buffett...two of the richest dudes in the galaxy, yet they are two of the greatest givers. The Bass family, the Perot family, the Bush family, the Busch family, the Coke family (as in Coke Steel), the Heinz-Kerry family, the Kennedy family, the Rockerfellers, the Carnagies....all great givers and all greatly wealthy.

Well the reason the rich aren't doing anything is because its not affecting them. Now some rich people actually care but the number is small. The rest of them are just stuck on themselves. Are there more incidents like this?

Greed is the motivation, and the most successful care not how many people they have to step on along the way.

I disagree with your gross characterization of rich people, as it is based on a sweeping generality.
