Im not sure what you mean by the fact that you "lost" your lawyer.
He cant just "leave" your case. Thats a legal malpractice action and i would pursue that if your case gets dismissed.
I dont know Nevada law, but in New York, if you switch lawyers or your lawyer makes a motion to withdraw as your counsel, you have a statutory 30-60 days stopping all action on the case giving you time to find another lawyer.
On the trial date, i would go in and tell the judge that you, the plaintiff, are there but your lawyer isnt and you need an adjournment to get a new lawyer. The judge should be sympathetic and give you time.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Unfortunately, not many people, even lawyers can work for free (contingency is 'free' until settlement).
Since you want someone to work for free you are going to have a tough time, you gave us no information about the type of case but after 3 years, you should have been in on all the work since he was doing it for you for free, sooooo you should be familiar with it all. Appear at the pre-trial and explain your lawyer has left . . . if you feel able to proceed on your own do so or ask for a continuance while you seek additional counsel. Maybe a nearby law college could assist you ?

I, too, have a doubt that you just "lost" your attorney. You can't just "lose" an attorney. I work for seven of them. There is a procedure they have to go through to withdraw from a case. So - the attorney withdrew from the case for one reason or another. Sometimes it says in their little motion to remove themselves as counsel and sometimes it doesn't.

Besides, most of the time when a lawyer gets away from a case, they will give you a referral to another attorney.

Good luck going pro se if you don't know anything about contract law.

I'd find another attorney, any attorney at this point, and ask them to file a continuance based on the other attorney quiting.
