A friend of mine has a daughter in college. After her freshmen year her parents could not afford to send her to college any more. The girl comes to me and I said I could help if she cleaned my house once a week each semester I would pay the tuition and books. She agreed. 16 weeks later she only cleaned 3 times. each time I would call or email to find out when she would clean again, she would say "oh, next feiday or saturday"...but never show up. At the end of the semester she said "well I have already spoke with the academic advisor about my next semester's classes". ..I told her money was tight and I was not able to help again, you better look for a part time job...she got mad and said I promised to help. I said correct, but hello...you didn't do squat...i know there are people out there that would pull weeds for a college education..but this girl took advantage of the situation. I don't feel obligation to do nothing, not even a second chance.

Several weeks back I did mention to her father about the problem and he talked to her. She calls me back and said if I had a problem to call her not her dad.

Im sure this is hard on you seeing your friends with her parents.I know you trusted her to do what you had agreed upon and she screwed you.She used your friendship with her parents and never gave any of it a second thought. She needs to get a part time job and be responsible enough. She isn't your responsibility.

What did she say when u mentioned the fact that she broke your agreement, and took advantage of you? (basically stealing from you.) Did she just assume you would pay again, and did she promise that she'd keep her end of the bargain this time? This girl has some nerve, especially when u consider that you're not related, and that her actions could hurt your friendship w/ her Dad. Not to mention the fact that she was getting the deal of a lifetime. Maybe u could ask her Dad to speak to her, he might be able explain to her how awful her actions were. Anyway u did the right thing. What u did was very generous, so don't let her bad actions stop u from helping people, I think most of the time you'll be glad u did. Good luck w/ everything.

well in life nothing comes free, and if this verbal contract wasn't being held up by the other party, it would be time to cut all ties and let her sink or swim

what did she think was going to happen? She had to learn to keep her word and the consequences of not doing so sooner or later.

You are right . Do not give her another chance or one cent. She needs to grow up.
