A few weeks ago we had the fixtures in our shower replaced. Since then the water in our shower has been lukewarm. (The water in the sinks is WAY too hot, so I know it's not the water heater.) My husband refuses to call the plumber back. Is there something I can do, or at least look for, to try to correct the problem? I'm tired of cold showers!!!

Your new shower valve is probably an anti-scald valve. These have a maximum temperature setting that keeps someone from getting scalded when they jump in the shower. If the plumber left you the instructions on the valve, you (or your husband) can probably figure out how to change the setting. Otherwise, I'd call the plumber back out and have him adjust it, but watch what he does incase you want to tweak it later on.

A bigger water heater is not the answer. The water heater does not create line pressure. The first question is: did the hot water in the bath ever work correctly? If not, then h/w pipe size may be an issue. If it did, then that means that something changed - possibly in the shower valve. I don't know whether you have a single control for tub/shower that switches by toggling a lever, or if you have older style hot & cold valves and a middle valve to turn on the shower. Either way, if the flow to the tub faucet is acceptable on both hot & cold, then the device that switches on the shower is the problem, and may need to be replaced or reaired.

The shower valve could be a temp-trol , that can be adjusted to a max temp. It might be as easy as that. Look at the installation instructions. The plumber should have left them with you.

Obviously there is a problem with the Hot water to the shower.

When your Husband is at work, call the Plumber, tell him what is wrong, so he can come and fix it.

Men are so stubborn and bullheaded.

Sounds like you have the newer shower head that regulates temperature.Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and get a standard shower head.
