I am working for Symantec, working on Norton Antivirus and Norton Internet Security.
lemme tell you all the answers posted are wrong.
Simply a liveupdate cannot tell the status of ur Norton
First make sure your system time is rite.
Then chk the virus defination and the last done full system scan.
If the norton status is good mean that its running fine.
If u have slightest doubts that there is some problem
u can run the autofix tool from
www.symantec.com/autotools.

When u reach the site run the 9th tool
An case of any further problem dont hesitate to ping me
Regards

Don't waste your time.

Uninstall Norton and get Bitdefender or Avast.
They are both far better antivirus solutions than Norton or McAfee.

In the control panel, when you click on Nortons, will show you if it is enabled or not. That's pretty trustworthy.
