It depends on what kind of retro!

Typically, retro means looks from the 40's or 50's. For women, that means dresses or outfits with well-defined waists, and tailored clothing. In terms of hair, bangs (think betty paige), rolls, etc - always very neatly styled. For makeup, you can't go wrong with neutral eyes (just some neutral shadow, a little black liner on top, and black mascara), and red lipstick. Hats are always a nice touch too.

For a nice retro touch, get seamed stockings.
