If the U.S is such an advanced, forward thinking, great country, why are three innocent men still in prison and one of them, Damien Echols, on death row for a crime he did not comit. Why are they being denied access to free DNA testing tp prove their innocence. Surely it's the right of every American citizen to use every means at his countrys disposal to prove his innocence. Innocent until proven guilty??

I appreciate that there were given a guilty verdict at their original trial but so much new evidence has since come to light yet the judicial system seems to have chosen to ignore this evidence. They seem to be going out of their way to ensure that these three innocent boys will pay for this crime, irrespective of the fact that there may now be a way to prove their innocence.

Isn't the anybody out there who can do something to at least see that they get the chance to use any new evidence or DNA testing now available to prove, for once and for all, beyond any shadow of a doubt, whether they are either guilty as charged or innocent as so many people believe them to be.

Well, this is a proof that the US is NOT such an advanced country. God bless Iceland (for giving would chess champion, Bobby Fischer, citizenship)!

Excuse me, but were they sentenced without benefit of trial? Meaning, were they not proven guilty? Usually, before a person is sentenced to death, there are stringent standards of evidence that must be met. Then there is the appeals process in which NEW evidence may be introduced that was not available at trial. You asked, and I am telling you that having been proven guilty, they are no longer innocent; and while DNA testing has proven many to be innocent, on a percentage basis most are not. They are guilty.

Because the reality is, no system is perfect. And they still have a better chance for justice here than anywhere else I can think of. I wish it were simpler than that, but nothing about life is simple!

It is a false assumption. What you have said only works in theory not reality. more like, Landscapes of the mind. Sorry, but thanks for a reality check point. Have a nice day.lol
