I'm not a christian but I'm in support of a time of year when people try to be nice to each other, the retail industry gets a huge boost and I get some time of work! I think people that say, Merry Christmas' are just saying, 'have a good time over the period that's known to Christians as christmas' which is jolly decent of them and not offensive at all.

I'm an atheist, but because i think this time of year is really happy and nice i celebrate Christmas anyway. I have two friends who are Muslim and Hindu and i don't think it upsets them in the slightest. Just ask your self, if someone wished you (for arguments sake) a happy Diwali, would you be offended? I think it's nice when people wish others good, i don't think it really matters what for.

Merry Christmas!!! x

No!
Christmas is a part of popular culture, and so I don't think most people make any kind of conscious connection between Christ and Christmas. Whether you like it or not, religion doesn't have much to do with Christmas these days for most people. Since it had nothing to do with Christianity in the beginning, I think that has a nice symmetry to it.

doesn't offend, unfortunately there are millions here who really don't believe in Jesus and true Christmas, but put all the trimmings up and buy presents also make a huge deal about it... why? why also do they celebrate his birthday when the bible says not to... it's just not about religion anymore.

personally I'm not a christian and don't do the Christmas thing because i see it all to be a bit pointless.

I am a christian but did you see the sun newspaper yesterday? it showed a shopping maul in saudi arabia there was a huge christmas tree and decorations even though that country is mostly muslim but they had put it up anyway for the benefit of the christians living there.
How nice is that?
I dont think the other religions are offended and it is not them that complain it is the white political correct monkeys who decide all this crap, they are the ones who need to be stopped before england is no longer england.

You do realise that all the furore about "people trying to ban Christmas" is a load of rubbish don't you? All the examples trotted out in The Sun/Mail/Telegraph etc. never actually happened and are just examples of lazy journalists trying to create hysteria.

Just a quickie, but you do know that 'Christmas' was a Pagan celebration long before the Christians got hold of it and renamed it, dont you ?

And the Tree came from that festival not the Christian one!

i'm going to throw in my two-cents here also, even though i am a christian.

i do not celebrate christmas because of it's pagan customs.

i do not, however, get offended when people wish me good tidings, because they are just being friendly.

just a side note, because not everyone who doesn't celebrate is a non-christian. :)

I'm an agnostic, but I asked that question to a couple of my Muslim friends and they just laughed!! They said ' why should we be offended?, that's just stupid!!'
