This is a no-win war, just like Vietnam.
America got their a.s.s. beat there too.
Some wars are not worth fighting.
This is a lesson in 'How & When' to not start a war without thinking it through.

I have always said that if you do not define a goal, you will never achieve it. The troops that found Saddam should have shot him dead and then we should have left. That is not an option any more, but now we can finish the trial, shoot the bastard and leave.

The other option is to start pumping oil like crazy, make sure the proceeds are fairly distributed between the three major groups for the benefit of the average person and stay till all the oil is gone. That's what the war is all about anyway.

If we pull out, Al Aaeda will bypass in and tear the authorities aside. Then it really is going to fall down right into a cesspool of terrorism. the authorities isn't waiting to preserve itself yet. retaining each and each and every of the factions at the same time is demanding sufficient, then you've Al Qaeda assisting to tear it aside? no longer good. finally, if we stay there lengthy sufficient and strengthen the borders nicely sufficient, Al Qaeda will dry up sufficient so as that the Iraqi authorities can take care of it. it really is only a matter of waiting and endurance.

They have had elections and Saddam is out of power, the victory has already happened. Now to train their forces and leave the country in a stable condition is all that is left.

For starters, Saddam needs to be executed. Hung until dead.

Paramount is keeping Iran from exploiting the current weakness of Iraq.

Privatizing Iraqi oil, so that American oil companies make bundles of cash,
Keeping the huge military budget so that arms manufacturers, and military constructors get rich at the American tax payers expense,
Permanent military bases in the oil rich region,
Establishing a puppet government to suppress the population in Iraq

Mission Accomplished, as Bush would say(so what, that 650,000+ people died)

I think as far as Bush is concerned, if the Iraqis keep killing each other off, that is winning.
