i need a program that takes the back round of the image so then its like white back round and the image. do you no any FREE program that does that (i need it for a mac)

It sounds like you're talking about automatically cutting out the background behind a subject (a person for example) and turning it white so you only see the subject.
Having done this thousands of times in graphic design work, I can tell you that no such software exists (free or otherwise) and probably won't for a while.
Unless you meant something else of course...

The only way I can think of doing this is manually in any image processing software. In order for a programme to work out which part of a picture is the background, it would take a lot of information about shading and perspective; the kind of stuff we take for granted as humans, but a programme would have to have carefully programmed in,

"Background", not "back round" ;)
Read my answer to your t-shirt question for a link to free software - it isn't automatic though, you'll have to work at it. (No program can do this automatically - it's total science fiction).
