Love is a strong liking for someone. It's a strong passionate affection for another person. That is one way of seeing it and then the bible says that love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things; believes all things; hopes all things; endures all things. I think in my life the bible definition of love says it all!

Love is an emotion. This emotion is for a person, an animal or simply an object. When you love an animal, you care for it and make it your all. You are loyal to the animal and nurture it well. You do this so the animal is happy and you communicate through your love. Similarly when you love somebody it could be platonic love or passionate love. Platonic love is between families and friends of the same sex (unless homosexual). Platonic love is the one you have for your father and mother when you love them so much and you make them your all, you respect them and keep them ever so happy because you care for them. Through this platonic love you will never see your parents in the affectionate way you intend to see your significant other. Affectionate and passionate love is truly understanding that person and accepting them for who they are. Caring for them, and sympathising with them that when they are upset you want to do everything to keep them happy all the time. U want to make them urs

There are many definitions of love, and none of them come close to capturing what it actually is. There is an important distinction to make though between love and attachment. Love can be described as "The desire for someone to be happy," and attachment can be described as "The desire for someone to make me happy." When we separate these, we can love unconditionally, which is truly the greatest gift. Also, love isn't necessarily limited to other people. Because love is found within us, we can make any act an expression of love, from brushing our teeth to cooking to giving a hug. There's a lot to say about it, and the article I've included as source (written by me ;) might be interesting.

Love is a very complicated word. It's when you can't get enough of someone. You wait all day long just to catch a glimpse of their beautiful smile. When you're around them you feel different, but in a good way. When you touch them you feel a jolt of electricity go through your body. That jolt of electricity signifies that your feelings toward the other person is true and you are indeed in love.

To me: love, the life force, peace and god (the Source of all things, not the vengeful dude in the clouds) all mean the same thing. Other people categorise it as an emotion that comes and goes but to me love is the life force, constant and unwavering.
This is true love. All other forms of love are watered down from this with fear, but fear and love cannot dwell in the same place so these other forms can't truly be called love.

Love is putting that other persons needs before yours, including them on future plans. Love is knowing what you're getting into, letting that person in where not many have discovered, letting them see your biggest fears, trusting them and understanding your broken history and not judging you or making you feel inferior about your mistakes, accepting all that persons faults. Giving them your all and not expecting anything back. But most of all, love is putting your heart in the palm of their hand and trusting them to not crush it.

I tried to define love by the intensity of love, however this isn't exactly accurate.
So now I define love (not necessarily romantic of kinship kind) by certain qualities I think should exist:
1. Acceptance
2. Respect
3. Affection, caring.
So any relationship (or interaction) with those three qualities I'd call love. Obviously, different relationships, different types of love.
