NIL BY MOUTH - cigarette+smoke+SAFE can never be put in the same sentence. Quit, if not for yourself, do it for your baby. You have also already opted not to breastfeed your child - you haven't even tried it yet and have already dismissed it! It is a personal choice but it does make me wonder whether or not you have your baby's interests at heart at all, whether you really want this child, and indeed if you are fit for a parent. Sorry - you lack basic education.

Umm none
We have known for years, the population have known for years, and even on cigarette packets it has said for years, that smoking harms your baby.
Cigarette smoke contains ingredients such as nicotine, carbon monoxide and cyanide, all of which, it has been proved, can be transferred to unborn babies.
Smoking reduces the amount of oxygen to your baby.
The result is the baby grows less well than he might have done, and he'll be born lighter than otherwise. This might make a great difference to his health at birth.
There are also effects on brain development and on the general health of your baby, which have been shown to last into childhood, and even beyond.
It also ups the chance that your baby and even your grandchildren will have asthma.
Increases the chances of stillbirth and miscarriage.
Increases the chance of low birth weight or premature birth.
It may also cause antisocial behavior and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or at least encourage it.
Smoking can even cause SIDS.
If you love your baby I would recommend quiting like now.

I know everyone would say none and they would be right But! If you are stressed out or depressed , or afraid ,it will hurt the baby just as much as the cigarettes will . I don't mean normal stress , I mean really stressed . Stress causes many chemical reactions to defend your body and mind which can harm the baby .You should stay as calm as possible while your body goes through pregnancy and while your baby grows inside you. Talk to your doctor and you can both figure out what is best for you.

Of course everyone told you this but it's not safe to smoke at all during pregnancy, I did however smoke and continue to do so and this is my third pregnancy. I'm what the doctors call a one in a million shot, I smoke through both of my other two pregnancy and and had 2 babies come out both weighing well over 8 lbs. I would say pre-pregnancy I smoked about a pack a day and after I got pregnant I cut back to about 1/2-1/4 pack a day. I know you are getting a lot of negative feed back on this but don't worry its your body, YOUR BABYand your choice. Good Luck.

It isn't safe for you or your baby to smoke while you're pregnant. It increases your risk of miscarriage and can starve the baby of oxygen. You say it's your body, but for a tiny part of your life, it's your babies body too and it wouldn't hurt you to stop while you let your baby grow as strong as possible. If you need help to quit there's loads of support through the nhs while you're pregnant. And if you can't quit, try and cut down. Good luck

Let me start off by saying smoking IS HARDER to stop when you have done it for years. I KNOW! Doctors say that smoking is NOT good on the baby hun although I am 27 weeks and I smoke my self and MY doctor knows it. I am down to 5 cigs. a day although I KNOW it is NOT good. Yet I was up 1 1/2 packs a day so I done WELL! I asked the doctor about the patch he told me HECK NO. He rather see me smoking than the patch so DON'T do that. Just TRY your best and cut back. I have two wonderful HEALTHY kids and I smoked with both of them as well. As far as the breast feeding the recommend you to if you smoked through your preg. because the baby has a with draw just like we would with out one. BEST WISHES

None. Even nicotine patches aren't good. My sister smoked atleast 20 a day, then she found out she was pregnant and stopped almost immediately. She had tried before, but failed. But because she felt she had a proper reason this time, she managed to do it. She said it wasn't even that hard. She'd been smoking for about 10 years.

hey u need to control urself and practice some self restrain. Think of the baby, ur need to smoke may last for a few hours but the effect this might have on ur baby might last him/her an entirelifetime. In such cases babies are found to develop breathing problems, less RBC count etc etc.
So let not the baby pay for ur mistakes please.

As you say, it's your body. So when you aren't pregnant, feel free to smoke away. When you are pregnant, you shouldn't be smoking at all. You could be setting your child up for a lifetime of health problems.
