They haven't always been that way. But in the last 20 years some Socialist was able to get in control of part of the party and move it to the Socialist side of the pendulum. Not all Democrats have move that way. But the ones in power have move to Socialism.

I am sorry to say but we Americans for the most part have very little understanding of socialism..Democrats/liberal thinking may resemble social democratic thinking which is most of Europe ..
but it is not the same as Socialism..
There are many European countries that actually have a higher standard of living than America...There are many reasons why some Europeans immigrate to America..as there are many reasons why Americans immigrate to Europe! Another point is Europe also has a migration problem from people out side of its borders!

Based on what. The Democratic and Republican parties are very diverse; not to mention tens of subgroups, if that few. I think you're thinking about the Socialist Party, cause the Dems in office are pretty far from Socialist.

There are NO socialist countries in Europe. They all have private property and businesses.
There are no socialist in the Democratic party. Can you name an elected Democrat anywhere in the country that does not support Capitalism?
It is the Republicans that keep demanding that their businesses get taxpayer money,

You are very confused. Remember that the USA's biggest European ally..British Prime Minister Tony Blair, is a socialist himself... he's leader of the British Labor Party.
I dont see or hear of many Brits "flocking" to the USA !

Do not get caught up in the politics of our country. It is only the extreme left of the Democratic party that is in favor of socialism. Do not ever vote straight party line, because there are kooks enough to go around in both parties. The American voter just needs to stay informed and vote for what they believe is right, not just along party line. By voting only one party is a socialistic venture in itself. We need diverse opinions to keep our government going forward to protect us first.

They are not quite Socialists. More like Social Marxists. Some are Socialists.
People are leaving Mexico and flocking to the US so that they can make money and send it to Mexico.

You notice they are not "flocking" from Europe to here. The only reason people flock here is we're stupid enough to let them.
What do you base the Democrat position on? I really hope it isn't from the idiots here like swarts (sp?) and company.

What makes you think they do? Your question is basically a political cliche with no real basis in truth.
It was a Republican congress and a Republican president who expanded entitlements by enacting a government sponsored prescription drug plan. It was a Republican congress and Republican president who turned their back on free market principles and signed into law an $80 billion farm subsidy plan (at a time when farm income had doubled).

Actually, we are a capitalist oligarchy. Anyone who does not understand that in America you get a different level of education, health care, employment opportunity and even justice if you have money than if you don't have it, has not been in this country. Not to mention that only millionaires can run for office.
