I never liked the idea of "exchanging" gifts. Exchanging means that you are expecting something in return. I have always "given" gifts. If the person I give the gift to also gives me a gift I am touched. If not, that's ok too.

Actually.....yes I do agree! Don't get me wrong I still do it and always will but, I find it can be very stressful. If your stressed and worried if the person will like your gift then what's the point?
Many people have lost track of the whole point of Christmas and I speak from experience.... I remember being younger and it was all about the gifts for me.......no matter what my parents tried to instill!!

When you say "X-Mas gift exchange" you are removing Christ from the situation, but if you say "Christmas gift exchange" you are allowing him back into the concept and it is a beautiful thing!

Not necessary. It is up to ourselves to keep the real concept of giving. Buying a present for someone is nothing basically wrong, but the motives for doing it can vary.

I think that is just a way to have fun, but you always have the option of giving something to someone withoout waiting for anything in exchange.
