Some women eat a part of their placenta to stop hemmoraging. The placenta contains pictocin which is a chemical that stops the bleeding by making the uterus clamp down. This is why animals eat their placenta.. nutrients and stop bleeding.
Saying that.... I would eat a small piece of my placenta if i was bleeding uncontrolably but i certainly wouldn;t fry it up and call it dinner!
My placenta is in my freezer... we are planting an Ash tree on top of it in the spring .. our son;s name is Ash.

I saw some documentary about that...these ppl had a whole placenta party, and served the placenta as the main ingrediant in hou dervs (sp?) for their friends. Its supposed to have a lot of nutrients packed into it from the pregnancy. I personally woudn't eat it...that would be a little odd.

I think to get rid of a potentially embarrasing item. "excuse me, but does that thing over there belong to you?" "Honey, will you please pick up after yourself?!"
