A couple of nights ago I was woken up with sharp pains in my lower abdomen which lasted about 5 minutes. I haven't had anything similar since but I can still 'feel' it if that makes sense, but it doesn't hurt. Please don't say go to the doctors, i'm sure its nothing major and if I am in pain again I will go but I don't want to waste mine and the doctor's time over something which may just be as trivial as period pains or something I ate disagreed with me.
Anyone had anything similar?

Trapped wind or a grumbling appendix if the pain is on the bottom right of your abdomen.

You might just need a good dump. How regular are you. Try Actimel 'to get rid of that bloated feeling'......

I am an alternative medicinal therapist and sometimes it can be a simple as wind.Or muscular contractions I sometimes have this. If you are not sick or have a temperature or headaches then I don't think its serious. If you are near to your period then this may very well be the cause. If you start getting any of the above with or without this pain then you MUST see the doctor

My endometriosis started out this way and they later found 2 cysts on my ovaries so GO TO THE DOCTOR to be sure its not anything that will get worse with time. You're not wasting anyones time if there is a possibility that it could be something harmful to your health.
