The two top sellers have been Seagate and Maxtor. Earlier this year Seagate acquired Maxtor. Both brands are still widely sold and both are very dependable. Western Digital makes a very good competitively priced dependable drive.

Prices vary all over the place with the best price usually at Sam's, Circuit City, Best Buy, or Office Depot. Watch their weekly sales.

We purchase Western Digital or Maxtor with the price the deciding factor. Be sure to get a 7200 RPM with at least a 8 Meg cache.

The choice of serial (SATA) or parallel (EIDE) depends on your computer. While SATA drives are touted as being faster we have found very little difference in access speed. If you have serial connectors already in your computer by all means get a serial drive but don't upgrade just for that.

Good luck in your project.

I cant tell you the Best One But I Can Recommend The Best Brands
So ahem OK

I Prefer Dells A Little Pricey but worth your bucks

And something i found myself to be surprised about was the apple computers desktops i mean

They are actually a pretty handy Thing to have and they never freeze or slow down so far anyways

And last but not least i would go with Hp software and computers not as popular but the cheapest and more practical by far but these things you actually get alot more than what you pay for OK good luck

For me, it's the cheapest for the amount of space you get. A hard drive is a hard drive to me. Even though there are some out there that are faster than others, but do you really notice the speed? And if you do, is it worth paying that extra money? How oftern do you need to transfer large amounts of data?

independent of size, the best models available are Seagate, Maxtor and Westerndigi

size depends on for what it will be used for..for personal use like saving documents, some music and video a 80GB or 100GB would be good i guess
