BART with its planned extension to San Jose and a possible extension to Stockton. Unfortunately the original design of BART (a non-standard rail gauge and extra width of the carriages) prevents it from completing the circle over the Caltrain tracks on the west side of the bay from San Jose to Millbrae.
Gasoline or diesel vehicles will be too expensive to operate because of the dwindling oil resources.
Electric buses (either battery operated or overhead wires as at present in San Francisco) will be more prominent - Low cost electricity from hydro-electric dams.

If Americans continue to waste more energy per person than anyone other nation in the world, eat more, consume more of the world's limited resources and produce more pollution per person than anyone other nation in the world then the answer should be swimming or boating because the whole area will be underwater. It will unfortunately take a disaster on this scale to wake up the complacent friends of the energy industry in US Government whose world policy appears to be "do everything and anything possible to line our corporate pockets."

When will there be a serious public discussion in the States about environmental issues that are bringing devastation to areas of the globe and are threatening to wreck the whole world if current lunatic policies are pursues much longer?
