The most famous might now be Stalingad, but the Japanese and Marines used snipers in the Pacific as well.

Yes they were. And in WW1, and every other conflict since the invention of firearms. Ever since the longbow, really if you define sniper as an exceptional shot who picks his enemies off one at a time at a distance from a well - chosen vantage point.

no i do not belive they where
They where held back because of danger persouses
It takes 3 times long to train a sniper than a grouwn troop
but when you think about it ground troops have it a little bit tuffer because they have to deal with eapole unlike snipers

yes, even inthe ww1 snipers were used by germany,so u know what the british did ?
they brougth in game hunters from Africaand india to train thier own!,
