Because that behaviour is not acceptable here. It is definately a negative thing here. There are people however (like myself) who neither condemns or condones it. I believe whatever two consenting adults do in the privacy of their bedrooms is up to them. Our entertainers are the people who are most vocal on the subject and they condemn that type of behaviour at all times. Don't be fooled though, there are homosexuals in Jamaica but they just don't flaunt their lifestyle in everyone's face - which is acceptable.

Wherever you got that statistic from is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Where did you get that information from, did you do a survey?! Not only are you mistaken and the statistic incorrect- as in the 95% is too high (even if it the survey was valid) but because 95% does not follow. If 95% of persons living here are homphobes then 5% most be nonhomophobes and homosexuals. But that wouldnt represent the population, so therefore among the 95% there must be soem homosexual perons nuh so? And somehow i dont think gays are fearinfg themselves, you know what i mean.

I wouldn't say that the majority is virulently homophobic since I don't think they ever took a poll on the percentage of homophobia! Still, I see your point. I met a bisexual Jamaican studying here in the USA, and asked him about that. He said that it's more of a cultural thing that is inflamed by Jamaican singers and entertainers more than anything else. There are homosexuals in Jamaica, but that aren't as "out" as they tend to be here in the USA. He also told me that it is slowly changing as the island becomes more Americanized and Europeanized, and within 20-30 years it'll probably be much better.

Because it is WRONG!! BOTTOM LINE!! and as for ME I DONT GIVE A S.H.I.T. who wants to say that Jamaica is homophobic, infact i welcome that. If u are a batty boy, u need to keep ur battyman lifestlye to ur self. There WILL NOT come a time where homosexuality will be legal in Jamaica so GET WITH IT. I am not saying we should be violent and against them, but it will NOT be condoned. NOT NOW NOT EVER!! So in other words...... BUN OUT A CHI CHI!!!

BECAUSE..... their entire culture is based on Ratafarianism, and so they believe strongly in what JAH says... & Jah created a women for the purpose of companionship. He didn't leave Man by himself, so anything that goes against that..... Jamaica is strongly against !

because deep down all people whatever race or nationality knows that homosexuality is wrong and unnatural.

Jamaicans are very vocal, passionate, strong willed people who will not allow a lifetyle they don't approve of forced unto them.

I guess that they realize that homosexuality is wrong. I don't think that they necessarily hate of fear homosexuals, which is what homophobia implies.
