Spiderman, baby! I used to read (and still do) Spiderman comics when I was a kid and he is one of the few superhero that 1) I can relate to (Peter Parker actually)
2)Grew up and changed with (Spidey generally starts off as a teen, graduates high school, goes to college, experiences first love and love lost, marries, loses loved ones, becomes a father, loses daughter, separates and reunites with wife).
3)Has an awesome rogue gallery (Green Goblin 1-4, Doc Oc, Electro, Vulture, Sandman, Venom, etc)
4)Continuously has the odds stacked against him and overcomes them.
So there you go , there are plenty more reasons to love this character and I hope this makes some new fans : )

He's not really a hero but...The greatest villan is Onslaught...another X-men character... Although his nature was initially unclear, Onslaught was a composite lifeform made up of Professor Xavier's repressed mental characteristics and influenced by psychic contact with Magneto. Utilizing Xavier’s vast psionic powers and Magneto’s control over the electromagnetic spectrum, he came to the physical world. He was the only one to ever defeat Juggernaut...ithink he killed him..well his powers include Seemingly unlimited superhuman strength, speed and stamina, Invulnerability, Telepathy, Telekinesis, Magnetokinesis, Reality Manipulation, Metamorph, Self-Evolution, Genius-level intellect.
Nigh-Omnipotent and Omniscient
As you can see this guy could easily kick the *** of every superhero or supervillan that would croos into their paths...
Spiderman would never win same with...Mighty Thor, Captain America, Superman...Hulk is no match for the unlimited powers of Onslaught...He is really the ultamite fighting machine of doom

No way Spidey just not dark enough even though I like the new black costume in Spider-man 3. I don't think Peter is going to keep the black costume so Batman is the best.
