What are your thoughts on this quote from rent? I totally agree, if you keep regretting you will waste away your life regretting what you did and not doing other things to make up for it.

it's a beautiful quote- but hardly attainable.
"Regrets keep the heart beating"
by the way, Faith & Regret are sisters, they both fell inlove with Time. but Time flew away & left them both hanging on.
Faith for something to look forward to in the future,
Regret stayed longing for Time to come back.

Forget is easier said than done. regrets are sometimes a building stone. talking as honestly as possible and listening to motives, may help in the progress for moving out of that shadow. Just trying to find some words that ,in my mind, could fit into the answer of your Q. other than that, I like the quote.

I suppose, but isn't regret a legitimate emotion? I regret lots of stuff, but I learn from the mistakes I've made that cause the regret.

I think.....Learn from the mistake first, then move on. Regret is fruitless, as it tends to linger without action, if there is something you regret - the power is in the now to change it.
