i've got best answers of people but ive never sent a comment to the asker!
i think they do get to read it...or if your not sure just send them a message (e-mail) if they allow it!

if you send them an email, if they've allowed that option, they'll get it. if you just post a comment on the question page, they would have to go back and check to see it. they don't get notified that you have left a comment or anything like that.
