I started feeling sick a week ago now only 5 days after having sex. The doctor said it may mean that I am pregnant but would I really start feeling sick so soon after concieving, and if it's not pregnancy then why have I been feeling sick for a whole week but haven't physically been sick? Also I can't go on my monthly cycle as that is irregular!! Very confussed - don't want to get my hopes up as pregnancy seems to good to be true!!!

I have done a test this morning and it was negative. I was thinking maybe it was too early to show up positive only a week and a half after possibly concieving!??

Corinne H, I couldn't agree with you more.
The best way to find out is to wait till when you can confirm by doing a blood test or buying a kit and that you would confirm whether you are pregnant. No one here is a miracle worker who can say for sure whether you are.
All the best..

Generally it takes 8-9 days after conception for the embryo to implant into the wall of the uterus. Only after this does the body start producing pregnancy hormones, and it generally takes a couple of weeks for levels to get high enough for nausea to kick in. So it's probably too early for your sickness to be caused by pregnancy.
Nausea can have so many different causes - stress/anxiety, mild gastro-enteritis, food intolerances and a wide range of other illnesses - and this is why it's not used to confirm a diagnosis of pregnancy.
If you were pregnant, most likely you would be noticing breast changes, especially if this is your first pregnancy. Do your breasts feel tender or seem larger than normal?
Once it's 14 days or so past when you think you might have concieved then if you're right there'll be enough HCG in your system to show up in a pregnancy test. So hang on a few days, and if you're still wondering, take a test!

The tests only work when you would have been due to have your first period after getting pregnant. As you are irregular, this is going to be hard to judge, but try again maybe 4 weeks after you started your last one?
However, as someone says, it is unlikely that you will be feeling the symptoms so soon, but I think every person is different and possibly some do. You could just be hoping so much that your body is producing the symptoms. But good luck!!

I have a friend who got sick literally the day after she conceived with both her children. It's very possible to start getting symptoms before a pregnancy test shows up as positive. I had symptoms for about a week before I got a positive test.
Nausea but not actually being sick is also very common in pregnancy.
Good luck!

it amazes me how many people come on here and ask if they could be pregnant, How the hell do we know! get a test done even if your cycles out the test will still work,
Feeling sick is not always due to pregnancy I always feel sick the week before my period.
I hope you are for your sake if thats what you want but you will only know by doing a test.

Is it the same food always making you sick? When I was pregnant I got sick everytime I ate pizza...I finally noticed that and took a test...If it's always the same food, you might be!

You could be pregnant, but the only way to find out is to do a test.

the best way is to get a pregnancy testing kit which you would find at any chemist and know it for sure.else u could go to a gynaec and she would do the same and confirm it for u.
