WIndows 98's security was weak at best... you can bypass the logon screen by hitting cancel on the password screen or hitting your escape key.
If the password is a bios based password then you will have to pull the battery from the machine, open the notebook case and disconnect the bios battery to reset it to default (no password) before you do any of this get a copy of the manaul that shows you how to do this. Another way to do this is to download the bios flashing utility and a copy of the system bios from the manufacturers website and reflash the bios this will set it to default also.

Good day. If u have really important information on it, i suggest u take out the hard drive and put it on a next computer as a secondary disk. It will come up as a D or E drive in the my computer folder. Take out yur info and format it. Install XP cause microsoft has stopped providing updates for 98 meaning u will be at risk. Laterz.

you must be talking about the bios. there is no log on screen for windows 98.
