Why should we be a secular country? Do you have any compelling reasons why we should be a secular country? Here are my reasons why we should NOT be a secular country:

1) There are two hundred states in the world. From these 200 states dozens are Christian states and dozens are Muslim states. ALL the states that have majority Muslim populations in them are all officially Muslim states. ALL the states that have majority Christians in them are all Christian states. India is the ONLY state in the whole world that has a majority Hindu population and yet it is a crime if a Hindu demands India be categorised as a Hindu state. Hinduism isn't like Islam or Christianity which claim 75% of the world. India is the only Hindu state in the world. 1 country from 200. What would be so wrong if the only one country that has a majority Hindu population categorises itself as a Hindu state? Please tell me. By India categorising itself as a Hindu state, it doesn't imply that all minority rights would disappear.

2) By its nature Hinduism is a religion that accommodates all religions. It isn't like Islam or Christianity which can only be at the expense of other religions. Hinduism is a religion that believes in unity and co-existence. Just compare what Hindu religious leaders say about other religions and then contrast that to what other religious leaders say about Hinduism. You will be able to deduce the difference. Hinduism believes that god is in every religion and every religion is in god. Hinduism is the best religion for a state to adopt because it allows for flexibility.

3) Indian has already done so much for Muslim people. Tell me, have u seen a Hindu become a president in a Muslim country? India provides money to Muslims so they can visit the Mecca. Not even Muslim countries do this.

Most unfortunately Nehru was our first prime minister who Grew up in England and did not know much about the Indian way of life.
He was also of the opinion that Ramayana and maha bharata are fables and Gita was sung by some local bard. His conception of India was that it is a land of ignorant people who have remained adhered to very old and out dated ideas which are of no use in the modern world. He dreamt of modern India with industrialisation on the lines of the west so that it can compete with western world. Only thing he forgot was basically Indian Is corrupt and will betray his country for a paltry sum. Nehru agreed for Partition because it eliminated the only serious contender for the post of prime minister of India.
Being Brought up in christian tradition he had deep sympathy for Cristian's and being a kasmiry he was attached to Muslims.
His Utopian socialism was another useless idea (as time has proved it)for establishing a class less society
In this cauldron was born the pseudo secularism and continue by his daughter grand son and now Sonia Gandhi..

The origin of the word pseudo-secularism came from the educated knicker wallahs who found that they could malign the Nehru family by this term. Whereas there is no such thing. Either you can be secular or non secular. This is an unfortunate twist of coinage to the word secular. Using the excuse of pseudo-secularism fundamentalism is being propagated which has brought enough havoc to the nation and must be stopped. Thankfully the people of the country have realised the truth.

Basic Cause is the clerics of the main religions and very ignorant public and to put oil on the fire support from out side Could be Anglo American Alliance or Arab Charities or the governments. These Swami's ,Mullahs,Sikh Saints are all basically gangsters[Bhindra walla is the prime example]and they survive with chaos more the chaos more money they make. But they are only street smart they do not know what lies ahead on the road in this very fast changing situation in this world. Why cant we keep our religions in our pockets and act as the true Indians in the most secular way???This subject is so vast that many book volumes could be written about it.

besides the very shown truth that secularism is meant to be a western time period the position church has no precise to enter in states matter, yet in India even with all of us study secularism is via our first best minister Mr.Nehru. His theory of secularism became tolerance adverse to minorities highly adverse to Muslims,in accordance to Nehru idea majority communal ism is extra risky then minority communal ism, there is no note like minority communalism in his dictionary,i imagine this very idea gave itself the beginning of the time period pseudo- secularism,

Secularism is originally routed in the west to prevent the Church from interfearing into the funcitoning of the government. But in India this word was coined to please the minorities and prevent the Hindus from taking centre state. In the name of secularism trying to support the fundamentalism of minorities by keeping silent on religious conversations and religion based teorrorism. Where as trying to denounce every thing Hindu as anti-secularism. Even Supreme Court given its verdict that secularism does not mean non-religious, but our vote hunger politicians refuse to heard.

Other then the western term secularism,we Indian need to find the meaning of it, because in our country everybody is so relligious that it,s get easy for politition to take advantage of their emotiones,
But the real answer in your case is vote bank politics to appease minorities , they even dont hesitate to cross any limit, example Lalu,s election campaign with Bin laden clone and yet he is termed to be representative of secular parties. It,s beyond my understanding.
God help them

Voters who don't understand that secularism is the guarantee of their religious practices and who are led to dream that one day their own religion will rule the world. Tough luck.
