You get to work in the government department, helping to plan and implement economic policies. Or you could end up as a teacher teaching Maths, Economics or Social Science subjects. Or you could end up in a bank as a bank officer.

I would be asking thesame question as you since i intend to study economics at first degree level.

Economics is a very broad subject and offers you the benefit of having a little of everything. My advice is that you go further to specialize in any field at your masters level.

For you question: you can work anywhere as an administrative officer whether in government or private institution.

As for me,the opportunity to understand and manage resources is what propels my desire for economics not really where i would work.

It might interest you to know that My country's Central bank governor(nigeria) studied economis and kofi anan. (U.N secretary general) as well.
Hope this helps
