I was watching the news last night, and even there was a BBC camera man living on that street that came out to fim after the tornado, well he wouldn't get promoted far. So all that technology with picture phones and video phones and yet there is nothing.

I understand it was frightening, I would have been scared too. But if you don't reach for your phone to take picture of something like that, that you can show to everyone if you survive that you made it when would you? What do you think?

Not to be morbit but she has a point.... why then did hundreds of people take out their cameras as soon as the first plane hit the north tower on 9/11?

A twister isnt quite as scary yet no one took any video clips of it even though everyone has some sor of camera equiptment close at hand....

Its strange..

A twister began to form once above a football stadium right outside my flat and the first thing i did was take a photo. I was in awe and it is the first thing you think to do.. Thankfully nothing came of it.

I do think its wierd though..

I have been in four of these mini-tornadoes; one on Thursday. The wind rotates at anything between 60 and 110 mph and the one episode lasts for less than one minute. These wind speeds will blow you off your feet or nearly will. It is very dark (like a moon night) and it is nigh impossible to get a camera out of its bag in the time period. The rotation of the wind is the awkward thing and you cannot brace yourself against because it comes from all directions.

Should a category 4 tornadoe hit the street where I live, with wind speeds in excess of 180 mph, throwing large chucks of mortar and slates through the air along with the odd tree it has uprooted; I reckon I might head for the basement and wait for it to pass, my life and health being more important than a few measley brownie points I might get from my employer.

Elana thats good question..it seems that whenever there's a tornado sprouting up in the US, someone gets it on film, why is that?..in this case no one did?..i asked myself the same question.... keep searching tho..something might pop up

do you honestly think that if you were in that situation you would be thinking "oh, let me get my camera and take a photo, forget that I might get blown away"
probably most people wouldn't have even known what was going on

i dont know about your phone, but when i take a pic, if i dont keep it still then it blurs. I imagine it would be pretty damn difficult to keep your phone still with all that wind!
