I have a 94 Ford Escort. When it gets really hot outside, the intermittent wipers will go 1/3 up and stop. Well they ended up doing the same thing when we had a nice little freeze and snow storm up here in the NW. I figured that they would go back to normal when the temp went up, but they didn't. Now when in rains, (yes it rains in WA State lol) I have to move the wiper switch to the regular and then back to off, to get the mist off. Sometimes if I don't time it right they just stop in the middle of the windsheild. It's irritating. Anybody know what the problem is? It's not the motor b/c the rest of the wiper functions work fine. It's just the intermittents that are wierd.
Please only serious answers only.

Thanks again.

If it IS the wiper motor then tell me why it is only the intermittent that only freezes ?
It doesn't make sense that the motor works fine on any other selection, and only does so on intermittent.

Ah, this happened to me with a 2001 Altima. It turned out that my wiper motor was going. At first it was the intermittants and eventually the whole enchilada just went caput. Hate to tell you but it was quite expensive to fix.

The park switch in your wiper motor has failed. Unfortunately it can't be repaired. You need a new wiper motor.

To add insult to injury, Ford changed the wiring scheme for wiper motors a few years ago. If your wiring is on the old scheme, you'll need to install a new wiring harness for the new wiper motor. It comes with the new motor, but is a pig to install properly and the instructions are not as clear as they could be. It's a job best left to a dealer; at least if they mess it up they'll have to repair the resulting damage at no cost to you.

feels like a wiper trans subject. attempt and hit upon a used factors employer on your area and ask for a wiper trans on your motor vehicle. reasons could properly be a broken weld or a stripped kit or spline. Ussually get right of entry to is gained via the frt cowling by employing removing the wiper hands and a few preserving screws for the canopy. no longer a real confusing job to accomplish, greater labour severe than technical.

It seemed like your relay need to be changed. Its the relay that connect to your wiper switch that cause the intermittent short-circuit.

You can find the relay (Black cubical shape w 3 legs), near the fuse compartment.

Good luck
