I'll guess and say, you are British !?
I don't know what 'criticism' that you're speaking of, we in the USA are very fond of our British brethren .
And we, as the strongest country on the planet earth, will always be the subject of criticism, regardless of right or wrong . That's just life at the top !!
We're 'used to it' by now, and we've got 'big shoulders' . We've been carrying the weight of the world for decades now, and we'll continue . And 'some' criticism is healthy and acceptable !!

Those truly loyal Brits remember that without the help of the USA they would be under the control of Germany. We saved them in WW1 then went back & done it again in WW2. + we never sent them a bill for the cost. We so loved the British we made one a honerary citizen, Winston Churchill. Some snobs in England are still upset that the young nation of America through them out. We defeated the strongest Army of the times. Some have never forgiven us for that. Old grudges last a life time with some people

The British people do not back the USA - by which I take it you mean the US government.

The British people have a strong relationship with the people of the USA, the Americans. No only do we share a language [occasionally mangled by both sides] but we are also related in blood and blood is thicker than water.

Ask Irish Americans if they feel less Irish for living in America. Ask Dolly Parton why she always announces her Englishness to the world? Irish, Welsh, Scottish and English are race names and millions of Americans belong to this group, loosely called Anglo Saxons.

Geo. W Bush's ancestors came from Essex in England, he is English and of Puritan English descent.

I don't see any great backing by the British people. What I do see is a great number of British people succumbing to the whole it is popular to bash the United States and its people. Quite sad actually. Says alot for just exactly how loyal they tend to be towards allies.

That's fine. We are pretty use to it. Just means the British are no better than the French or the Germans. Surprise, Surprise.

Can you think of one time the US didn't back Britain? It is called friends and Allies. It is what they do. As for the criticism, are you referring to British criticism? Or are you referring to the UN and the European countries like France? It makes a big difference to Americans. If it British we listen, we may not agree, but we listen. If it is The UN, France, or most of the European countries. Americans could care less what they think. Funny thing tho, people like Paltrow talk about how Americans are stupid and how our form of Capitalism is rotten. Then she comes to America to make movies at ten Million a shot.

Because there is a percentage of the British population who are still Thinking which shows common sense.
Fear is not ruling their lives.
A true friend does not turn against a friend when he is being torn apart by world propoganda.
He stands strong by his side!!
God bless America and the stiff upper lip British heroes.
Take care!

Because they are our Allies and friends. I will always back the USA. That does not mean I think they are right all the time. One can be friends, but still accept criticism ,its called understanding and respect.
