God is the most destructive disaster ever created by MAN. It is so huge that no one can take photo of it...

.Look up the Johnstown flood. It happened in the 1800s and a lot of people were killed and the town was washed away when a man made reservoir that was built on a mountain overlooking the town collapsed during a storm. The reservoir was built so some wealthy families could fish and enjoy boating activities. The poor folks in the town below were put at risk so the rich could enjoy their leisure activities. A true, and unnecessary, man made disaster.

An environmental disaster is a disaster that is due to human activity and should not be confused with natural disasters. In this case, the impact of humans' alteration of the ecosystem has led to widespread and/or long-lasting consequences. It can include the deaths of animals (including humans) and plant systems, or severe disruption of human life, possibly requiring migration. Some might view, for example, the Three Gorges Dam as an environmental disaster, requiring the migration of 1 million people. Others might see it as beneficial to stop flooding.

Some might see the destruction of most of the North American forests as beneficial, as it cleared land for farming and other uses. In Ireland, the clearing of forest led to the formation of bogs, which some people like for their beauty, as well as their products such as peat moss. Others might see this deforestation as negative.

More cynical examples would be, for example, that Saddam Hussein felt it was beneficial to get rid of the Madan people by draining the Al-Hawizeh marsh, because they had joined the United States in the first Gulf War. Another example is the depopulation of the American Bison. It was thought by General William Sherman and others to be a good way to get rid of the American Indians living in the Great Plains, and would make way for the exploding population of the United States of America to take over the area. Some disasters can be averted before they have drastic consequences, as is the case with the hole in the ozone layer caused by CFCs, which were subsequently subjected to a near-total ban by various world governments.

Try Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster

man made disasters are quite plentiful because we are generally quite clumsy. i think Chernobyl is the best though. The nuclear reactor meltdown, purely because it had a few side effects aswell such as nuclear fallout, infecting sheep and cattle with radioactive materials. Not to mention the way it changed a lot of people's view on a very safe and relatively efficient power source (and the big bloody hole it left in the ground) all because of a simple coolant slip-up. here is some more info:

Ooooh, good one.
Chernobyl
Three-mile Island (both nuclear meltdowns)
Desert Storm (the burning of the Iraqi Oil Fields)
The Exon-Valdez (oil spill)
The destruction and degredation of New Orleans (engineering failure)
The collapse of the Verazano Narrows Bridge (spectacular and caught on film!).
The Destruction of Nagasaki (an experiment in a new technology and unneccessary, since Hiroshima had demonstrated what nukes were all about).
All of these can simply be typed into a browser, or looked up on Wikipedia.
Good luck.

The flooding of the HungHe river in china on 9th of June 1938 killed nearly a million Chinese peasents, the chinese govenment was responsible as they knocked the leviees down to flood the land. There aim was to halt the Japenese army but they did more damage to there own people.

This is a good example as most people have never even heard of the HungHe River (Yellow river) and it was a big killer.
