I'm an artist (writer) and it's not that those I know are selfish, we are just for the most part focused on things we create, so we don't live as much in the world as some. Paradoxically, every artist I've ever known also has more feeling, more passion.

as an artist i'll say no, were not self-centered or selfish, but we are controlled by our passion and vision, and that will always come first you can't compete with the art. it takes a very strong self confidant person to allow the artist to follow their path and be supportive.

no, artists are cool. why would they be self-centred and selfish? because they fail to meet the demands of regular society?
i definitely would marry an artist. i would have somebody interesting for a wife that way!

There are too many possible things you could be talking about to even make a bad generalization. You could mean writers, painters, singers, musicians, sculptors, poets, and actors, just to name a few fields. But VERY generally speaking creative people must have empathy to do what they do. However they do sometimes have too strong of an internal life in their own mind. They are sometimes proud of the work they do but they usually are more generous. Specifically you have to narrow the scope of your questions.

no i dont think they're selfish.. i think they're normal ppl! just like some of US are selfish, some of THEM are selfish too..
i wouldn't marry one coz i hate to be famous! i know it'll only be him who's famous, not me, but this will affect MY life! when we argue, the papers will talk abt it and exaggerate it and even lie abt it! if i go out with a guy friend, it'll be like "does his wife cheat on him??? find out here!" and stuff
my PERSONAL life, has to stay that way, PERSONAL! so thats why i wouldnt marry one (not coz he'd be selfish)

Everyone is selfish by nature and by so by boldly pointing out faults in others you are simply denying them in yourself.

some are for sure but I dont think it's because of being an artist ,it's just about the person's nature & personality..
I would marry one if he asked me to ,...why not?
